The poinsettia is a not an annual but a perennial plant and if kept in a heated greenhouse can be kept alive and will bloom as the days shorten for up to 40 years or alternativeLY if you put it in a bright spot you can keep it as a house plant for many years.
By all means don’t sear or burn the stems if you want the plant to survive like this article suggests. No wonder in England Poinsettia’s are only annuals, the English butcher them like savages.
You can preserve the life of the flowers by spraying the plant with compost tea and adding some vitamin c to their water and diluted compost tea. No need to be a poinsettia butcher like this horrid English woman.
